Joseph Restek

Born on the 7th. March 1915 in Volavje near Jastrebarsko, near Zagreb, Josip Restek was a prominent painter, graphic artist and professor of fine arts. His artistic path reflects a unique blend of classical training and innovative approaches, which has earned him recognition across Europe and beyond.

He supplemented his graphic and fine arts education with numerous study stays in European cities, pulsating centers of fine arts and graphic expression, such as Venice, Milan, and especially Paris, where he worked as a lithographer in the Edmond Desjobert atelier, and in 1964. He is training in the technique of intaglio printing at Johnny Friedländer’s studio in Paris.
Investing in fine arts and education
After graduating from the Classical Gymnasium in Zagreb, Restek studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts with professors Ljubo Babić and Omer Mujadžić.

Restek has exhibited in numerous exhibitions since the 1940s, and has received awards for his work such as the Order of Labor with the Silver Star in 1972. year.
